Here's what's new in our latest release.

Enhancements

  • Now you can include vectors in CSV files for manual Designs of Experiments. Each axis of the vector requires a column. Learn more here.

Important Notes

We've moved and renamed some options for transient simulations:

  • In General, Time Implicit Order has been renamed to Temporal Accuracy and we removed the Physical Time Step Method drop down as it only contained a single option (Fixed Time Step).
  • In Stopping Conditions, we moved Max Inner Iterations to the top section of the properties panel and renamed Time-Step Conditions to Inner Iteration Conditions.

Initializing from a simulation with a different mesh and moving frames has been disabled.

Here's what's new in our latest update.

Enhancements

  • We've increased the Max Mesh Count limit for Lumi Mesh Adaptation to 100 million control volumes.
  • Now you can constrain Monitor Planes to a box to define which portions of the domain the plane should intersect. Learn more here.
  • When uploading performance tables for use in actuator disk models, you can now use LC81 files. The LC81 format is Luminary's own, simplified, version of the C81 file format. Values are comma-separated and headers are not required. Learn more here.
  • The Luminary Cloud Python SDK has been updated to version 0.5.0. Learn more here.
  • We've made performance improvements to enhance our GPU efficiency, resulting in lower simulation costs. You may experience a slight increase in simulation runtime.

Important Notes

We've disabled transition modeling for Lumi Mesh Adaptation simulations.

We are continuing to address an issue where projects may become corrupted due to an incompatibility with earlier versions of the platform:

  • You may see a warning when generating a new mesh in a project with a previously generated mesh, adding a far-field to a geometry, or generating geometry contacts.
  • If your project was created after May 16, 2024, you can safely ignore the warning message.
  • For projects created before that date, the suggested workaround is to create a new project, upload the CAD file, and perform the operation.

If you have any questions about this issue or need help with the workaround, please reach out to support@luminarycloud.com

Here's what's new in our latest update.

Enhancements

  • Now you can view account usage broken down by simulation, meshing, visualization, CAD import, storage, and networking costs. Each tab will show you a list of projects and their associated credit spend. Learn more here.
  • We've updated the default Sub-Grid Scale Model for LES simulations to Vreman. You can select other sub-grid scale models when you choose LES as the Viscous Model for transient fluid simulations.
  • The Laminar Viscosity Model dropdown has been renamed to Dynamic Viscosity Model when creating a custom fluid material.
  • When you upload a CAD or mesh file in TAR, GZ, or ZIP format, you'll need to choose the correct file type from the File Type dropdown menu.

Here's what's new in our latest update.

Enhancements

  • Now when you click Run Simulation, you'll see a Setup Summary window. This allows you to scroll through and confirm your settings before running a simulation.
  • Now you can access our API reference documentation without logging in.

Here's what's new in our latest update.

Enhancements

  • We’ve revamped our documentation site to help you find information faster and easier. Check it out here.
  • Now you can quickly configure a Design of Experiments by uploading a CSV file of sample points. When you create a DOE, choose the Manual exploration policy, then assign columns from your file to the inputs you create. Learn more here.

Important Notes

  • The Luminary Cloud Python SDK has been updated to version 0.4.4. This version addresses issues with uploading mesh files. Learn more here.

Here's what's new in our latest update.

Enhancements

  • Now you can initialize simulations by interpolating from existing solutions in your project, regardless of mesh differences. Also, choosing Existing Solution will now apply to all physics in your simulation. Learn more here.
  • We've added support for Conjugate Heat Transfer for Transient simulations.
  • Now you can press F on your keyboard to Zoom to Fit.

Important Notes

The Luminary Cloud Python SDK has been updated to version 0.4.3. This version addresses issues with downloading files from ITAR environments. Learn more here.

Here's what's new in our latest update.

Enhancements

  • The Luminary Cloud Python SDK has been updated to version 0.4.2. This version adds support for the Luminary Cloud SDK to ITAR environments. Learn more here.
  • Now when you upload a C81 file for use in a disk model, we can parse the header axis lengths by whitespace, comma, or fixed width modes. The table can also now exceed 99 elements along each axis.

Issues Addressed

  • Previously, deleting an uploaded mesh file from a project and uploading a new one would result in errors. Now you can delete an uploaded mesh and reupload within a project. Click the three dots (...) at the top of the Geometry panel and select Delete Geometry.
  • Some users were experiencing issues viewing the Results page in their projects due to mismatches in surface groups across the Setup and Simulation tabs. The Results page will no longer crash for outputs with inconsistent groups across Setup and Simulation tabs, but some results tables may show empty output values. Please update those outputs with the latest surface groups.

Here's what's new in our latest update.

Enhancements

  • We've removed the Edit and Done buttons when making surface and volume selections for Frames & Motion in the properties panel. Instead, click on the box to enter selection mode. When you're done making selections, click anywhere outside the box to save.
  • We've added a new Wall Shear Stress Average surface quantity for transient simulations where General > Compute Statistics is set to On. This will compute the time-average of wall shear stress. When viewing results, select Wall Shear Stress Average from the dropdown at the top of the 3D Viewer.

Important Notes

The Smooth option has been deprecated from the Clip tool. Now when you create a clip of a CAD model with no mesh, the clip is smooth while clips of meshes are not.

Here's what's new in our latest update.

Enhancements

Now you can duplicate visualization filters and XY Plots. Right-click on a visualization filter or XY Plot and select Duplicate.

Important Notes

Starting in this release, you may notice a warning message when performing certain actions in a previously created project.

  • This warning will only be shown in certain cases where a corruption of project state may occur due to an incompatibility with earlier versions of the platform. You may see this warning when generating a new mesh in a project with a previously generated mesh, adding a far-field to a geometry, or generating geometry contacts.
  • As shown in the warning, the suggested workaround is to create a new project, upload the CAD file, and perform the operation.
  • We are working to address this issue in the platform so that this workaround will not be necessary in the future. If you have any questions about this issue or need help with the workaround, please reach out to support@luminarycloud.com
