Here's what's new in our latest update:

Reference Lengths for Pitch, Yaw, and Roll

Previously, a single reference length was used across all moments, but now you can optionally set different reference lengths for pitch, yaw, and roll. Read more about reference values here.

Default to Final Iteration for All Finished Jobs

When loading or refreshing a simulation result for "Completed" simulations, the final iteration is shown by default. This has now been extended so that when you load a Failed' or 'Suspended' simulation the final solution available is shown.

SDK Updated to Version 0.7.0

The Luminary Cloud Python SDK has been updated to version 0.7.0. Learn more here.

Here's what's new in our latest update:

Adjoint Sensitivity Analysis

Adjoint sensitivity analysis is used to determine how the output of a simulation is affected by small changes to its input parameters. Learn more about this new feature and how to use it here.

Solution Residuals

Now when you create physics, solution residuals are created automatically. Access these under the Outputs section of the control panel.

Fixed Issues

Some users were unable to upload Rhino files.

Here's what's new in our latest update:

Simulation Issues Console

Click on Simulation Issues at the bottom of the screen to launch the console and see which items still need to be configured before you can run a simulation.

Temporal Inlet Boundary Conditions

Inlet boundary conditions now support temporal (time varying) tabulated profiles. Learn more about tabulated profiles here.

3D Viewer Improvements

Previously Luminary3D, our visualization service, was only available for uploaded CAD models, but we've expanded it to include meshes. You'll notice an improved experience, faster load times, and new features for easier viewing of model surfaces.

File Upload Improvements

Now you can upload multiple geometry files at once. A max of 5 files of the same type can be uploaded at the same time.

Initial Solutions and Solutions for Cancelled Jobs

Now you can view the initial solution for your simulations. Additionally, when a simulation is cancelled, Luminary will still write a solution.

Zoom to Selection

Click the button in the bottom toolbar or press shift + F to zoom to selected surfaces.

Here's what's new in our latest update:

3D Viewer Improvements

  • We moved Ghost Mode, Exploded View, Probe, and Measure tools to the left side of the 3D Viewer to improve usability. You can also access Ghost Mode and Exploded view by right-clicking anywhere in the 3D Viewer.
  • We moved the geometry representation, axes grid, and surface select tools to the bottom toolbar in the 3D Viewer.

Fixed Issues

When exporting results to a CSV, some users noticed inconsistent and incorrect headers.

Here's what's new in our latest update:

Enhancements

  • We're excited to announce Geometry Modification! Now when you upload a CAD file, you'll be taken to a new Geometry tab where you can add, delete, transform, imprint, and perform boolean operations.
  • Use Ghost Mode to make selected surfaces transparent so you can see through your model without hiding surfaces. Right-click anywhere in the 3D Viewer and select Ghost Mode from the context menu.

Here's what's new in our latest update:

Enhancements

Now you can click and drag on the camera gizmo to rotate the camera angle.

Important Notes

In Advanced Solver Settings > Solution Controls, Local Time Stepping has been removed.

Fixed Issues

  • Some users experienced an app crash when selecting parameters for tabulated profiles in boundary conditions.
  • Some users experienced issues setting up inputs within a Design of Experiments.

Known issues can be found here.

Here's what's new in our latest update:

Enhancements

  • Now you can view approximate remaining credits in Account Usage.
  • We've enabled the 2000 version of quadratic constitutive relation (QCR2000) for the SST turbulence model.
  • We've added a new time-averaged Relative Velocity surface quantity for transient fluid simulations. Select it from the dropdown at the top of the 3D Viewer.
  • Actuator disks are now included in surface exports.

Here's what's new in our latest update:

Enhancements

  • Enhanced CHT Coupling is available for multi-physics simulations. This setting is on by default and improves robustness.
  • For actuator disks using the Blade Element Model, you can visualize local angle of attack, sectional lift coefficient, and sectional drag coefficient. Use the dropdown at the top of the 3D Viewer to select one of these quantities.
  • We've consolidated DDES models to DDES_VTM, IDDES, and DDES.
  • When zooming in on a model, the center of rotation is now set to the location of your cursor.

Fixed Issues

Some users experienced browser crashes when running simulations with multiple outputs.

Known issues can be found here.

Here's what's new in our latest update:

Enhancements

Now you can perform transient Conjugate Heat Transfer simulations with temporal boundary conditions and temporal heat sources. Upload tabulated profiles in CSV format to Heat Flux and Integrated Heat Flux boundary conditions or to heat sources.

Fixed Issues

  • Sometimes when entering values for various settings in the app, the values were not retained.
  • After deleting a mesh, some users were not able to regenerate a new mesh with the same settings.
  • Previously you could delete a mesh that was used in a simulation, but this caused an error when reviewing simulation results. Now, meshes that were used in simulations cannot be deleted unless the associated simulations are deleted first.

Known issues can be found here.
